The RegioTram system in the Kassel area was created to connect the region's railway network with the tram network without the need to change trains. This meant that even rural communities and towns could be easily connected to local public transport. Since December 2023, the station Melsungen-Schwarzenberg has also been available on the network for travellers and visitors.

Updated:
A platform with a tactile guidance system.

The platforms at the new station Melsungen-Schwarzenberg have been equipped with a tactile guidance system.

The construction of the new station Melsungen-Schwarzenberg began in 2022, with particular attention paid to accessibility. The newly built, modern outdoor platforms were designed in such a way that they can be easily accessed by travellers and visitors with wheelchairs, pushchairs or a lot of luggage using ramps. A sustainable lighting concept was also installed on the platforms. Together with new weather shelters, this ensures a pleasant stay at the station. A tactile wayfinding system supports orientation on site. The new station now connects the Schwarzenberg district of Melsungen with the city of Kassel and the town centre of Melsungen every 30 minutes - without having to change trains.
