Please note the rules and regulations as well as locally published additions at the train stations: they are designed to make your time at our stations safe and pleasant.

Our rules and regulations

Welcome to our station.

We want you to enjoy your visit. For this reason, the following rules must be observed in our stations and station forecourts:

Please ensure that your conduct on the station premises does not endanger, obstruct or disturb other guests. You must comply

with the instructions of our employees and security staff at all times.

Any failure to comply with these DB station rules and regulations will result in a reprimand, exclusion from the premises, criminal

proceedings, and/or claims for damages.

We will charge an administration fee of at least EUR 60 for any wilful damage or befouling.

The station management wishes you a pleasant stay and a safe journey.

1. The following are prohibited:

1.1 Crossing the tracks (exceptions are regulated locally.)

1.2 Aggressive behaviour or physical violence.

1.3 Leaving luggage unattended. We reserve the right to issue a charge for the necessary security measures and any consequential loss or damage in the event of wilful or negligent failure to comply.

1.4 Inscribing, spraying, befouling, damaging, flyposting or the misuse of any station facilities. Damage to property will be reported to the police.

1.5 Blocking emergency exits or escape routes.

1.6 Driving and/or riding motor vehicles, microvehicles, bicycles (motorised or non-motorised), scooters, skateboards, in-line skates or any other one or two-track vehicles. Only pushing or carrying is permitted.Exception: Severely disabled travellers with a “G”classification may use orthopaedic aids.

1.7 Parking motor vehicles, micro-vehicles, bicycles (motorised or non-motorised) or any other wheeled vehicle at entrances, on platforms and anywhere other than the designated areas. Failure to comply will result in the immediate removal of the vehicle. You will be charged for any costs incurred.

1.8 Taking motor vehicles, micro-vehicles, bicycles, heavy/bulky items of luggage or buggies onto escalators.

1.9 Flying drones either inside or outside the station (within the statutory exclusion zone)

1.10 Smoking, using e-cigarettes and vaping outside the designated smoking areas. Smoking cannabis (unless medically certified for treatment purposes).

1.11 Excessive consumption of alcohol anywhere on the station premises.

1.12 Dealing or taking drugs or narcotics.

1.13 Begging or harassing other station guests or searching through litter bins.

1.14 Failing to keep dogs on a leash and to provide them with a proper muzzle. You will be charged for the cost of removing dog mess.

1.15 Misuse of emergency and safety equipment.

1.16 Sitting or lying on the floor, staircases or in entranceways.

1.17 Dropping litter, food waste, cigarette ends or chewing gum outside the designated containers or on or near to the track.

1.18 Lighting fires, setting items on fire or the use of pyrotechnic items. In the event of a violation, you will be charged for the cost of any

safety measures (e.g. deployment of fire service) as well as any consequential loss and damage.

1.19 Carrying any type of floating balloon.

1.20 Feeding the birds, rodents or other wild animals.

1.21 Using tripods, lighting systems or other movable structures.

1.22 Causing a disturbance due to excessive noise or loud music.

1.23 Carrying

• weapons as defined in the German Weapons Act (WaffG), which include fake guns that have the appearance of guns, or in the German War Weapons Control Act (KrWaffKontrG)
• objects (especially knives) that are not permitted by law.

Legal exceptions shall apply. State regulations and orders concerning weapon-free zones at railway stations shall take precedence over this provision.

2. The following activities are permitted on the station premises only with prior approval of the station management:

2.1 Any advertising activities, the distribution of advertising material, the sale or offering for sale of goods and services.

2.2 Public assemblies and marches on platforms or in entrances to platforms (overpasses, under passes, staircases, escalators, lifts). These must be registered with the competent authorities pursuant to the Public Assembly Act and also require prior approval of the station management.

2.3 Collections and petitions.

2.4 Hanging up posters and notices.

2.5 Live music, performances and events.

2.6 Commercial photography, film and TV recordings.

3. The following activities are permitted on the station premises only with prior notification of the stationmanagement:

3.1 Public assemblies and marches which do not take place on platforms or in entrances to platforms (overpasses, underpasses, staircases, escalators, lifts) but in other areas of the station. These must be registered with the competent authorities pursuant to the Public AssemblyAct and require prior notification of the station management.

4. Please note:

4.1 When on the platform, please keep at a safe distance from the platform edge/track. Pay attention to markings on the platform as well as to warning signs.

4.2 Do not approach the edge of the platform until the train has stopped.

4.3 When on the platform, secure your luggage, buggies and other items to prevent them from rolling away.

4.4 Do not push when boarding the train and show consideration to other passengers.

4.5 Keep to the right on stairs and escalators.

Alcohol consumption ban at individual stations

At the following stations, a complete alcohol consumption ban applies. At all other stations, house rules point 1.11 applies: excessive alcohol consumption on the entire station premises is prohibited.

Corresponding notices at the stations point this out. The ban does not apply in shops and food service outlets, as well as their associated dining areas, where alcohol is sold or served. Alcohol carried along that is in firmly sealed containers and not intended for on-site consumption is also exempt. With this, DB is responding to the wishes of travellers and visitors and aims to increase the sense of safety through this measure.
