Together for greater safety

Around 4,500 security staff ensure your safety around the clock at our stations throughout Germany. They wear highly visible yellow waistcoats, are always available and intervene quickly if necessary. Our teams ensure compliance with the house rules and are happy to answer any questions you may have. Simply contact them if you need assistance.

In addition to the security staff, around 3,400 service staff members, 2,200 travel consultants and 2,800 cleaners throughout Germany are also on hand to help you at our stations.

In addition to our security staff from DB Sicherheit, almost 6,000 civil servants from the German Federal Police are on duty at our stations around the clock to ensure a pleasant and safe stay. In addition, security and law enforcement partnerships have been established at more than 100 stations across Germany. A wide range of local partners work together to improve security at and around the station. Depending on the constellation, neighbouring companies, cities, local authorities, other transport companies and social welfare organisations are also involved.

Strong partnerships are also clearly evident at selected stations in northern Germany. As part of joint patrols, the security forces of DB Sicherheit, the German Federal Police, the regional and local passenger transport authorities act as interdisciplinary units. Together, they have an increased patrol presence at the locations and work hand in hand to improve the sense of security on site. So far, these joint patrols can be experienced in Bremen, Hamburg and Hanover.

Over the past five years, we have invested around 180 million euros in modern video technology at stations together with the federal government and the German Federal Police. There are now 11,000 cameras at stations across Germany - and the number is growing all the time. All major railway stations are already equipped with them and smaller stations are also gradually being fitted with cameras.

We are investing not only in quantity, but also in quality: the new, modern multi-sensor cameras monitor everyday life at the station from thousands of angles, making your stay even safer. Only the German Federal Police have access to image recordings and can utilise them if necessary.

The Bahnhofsmission is an important partner at our railway stations. They help people in acute emergencies. They also support travellers and visitors, for example if they need help changing trains or are looking for a place to rest.

Social programmes such as our station runners also promote a sense of security at stations. Station runners reshape the interaction between travellers, visitors, employees and people without a home at stations. They mediate and resolve conflicts and are therefore part of a security concept that goes beyond technology, DB security and police presence.

We are thus increasing security staff at 35 major stations. We are also continuing to work in close partnership with the authorities to improve station security by increasing patrols.

Over the next few months, our customer-facing employees will receive new equipment such as bodycams and shrill alarms to protect them better. Employees can choose for themselves what they want to use. At some stations, there will also be an app that they can use to request help in an emergency.

There are already 11,000 cameras at our stations. Together with the German Federal Police, we are equipping more and more stations with them because cameras increase the sense of security and help to solve criminal offences more quickly.
