No passenger trains are running on the route between Neustadt (Holst) and Puttgarden due to work on the project Hinterlandanbindung der Festen Fehmarnbeltquerung. A permanent replacement bus service (X85) is operating between Puttgarden, Fehmarn-Burg, Großenbrode, Oldenburg (Holst), Lensahn and Lübeck.
