Strong rail is essential to achieve Germany’s climate goals. Freight and passenger trains also need an efficient infrastructure. To ensure that train services can be operated reliably in the future, the line between Würzburg and Nürnberg will be renovated from May 26 to September 11, 2023.
<h3 id="construction-work">Construction work</h3>
In addition to renewing tracks and points, we will work at our stations. These include, for example, renovations to platforms, passenger subways and stairs, the adaptation of the wayfinding system, the renewal of safety markings and lighting equipment as well as the improvement of the quality of stay through the construction of new weather protection systems and seating facilities.
The renovation will be carried out in two sections. First, the line between Rottendorf and Neustadt (Aisch) Bahnhof will be completely closed to train service from May 26 to August 5, 2023.

This will be followed by the closure of the line between Neustadt (Aisch) Bahnhof and Fürth (Bay) Hauptbahnhof from August 6 to September 11, 2023. During the second closure, there will also be no trains on the line between Markt Erlbach – Siegelsdorf – Fürth (Bay) Hauptbahnhof.

In addition, most trains on the line between Würzburg Hauptbahnhof and Marktbreit will be cancelled during both construction phases.
Furthermore, there will be train cancellations in the late evening and early morning hours between Nürnberg and Würzburg throughout the entire period.
